This Atlanta area Italian restaurant allows you to create your own dishes by picking from a selection of hand-made pastas and sauces. With over 15 different pastas to choose from, 11 different sauces and daily specials there are enough dishes to satisfy the pickiest patron.
Though at peak hours the line is often out the door, service at Figo's is quick. Patrons order and pay at the front counter where they receive a colorfully painted peppermill to place on their table as signal to their waiter. Food arrives steaming hot to the table in usually under 15 minutes.
The salads are large enough to share, and the spinach salad with goat cheese, raisins and balsamic walnut vinaigrette is a balance of sweet and tangy. Vegetarian pasta favorites include fusilli pasta with fungi, a rich, creamy mushroom sauce and three-cheese ravioli with sicialiana, a tomato sauce with chunks of perfectly cooked eggplant and gooey mozzarella. However, the checca sauce with chopped fresh tomato, mozzarella and basil, is a bit watery and does not fare so well on the noodles.
With most dishes under $10, Figo's is an affordable Atlanta hotspot. Locations are downtown, in Little 5 Points, Virginia Highlands, Buckhead, and Decatur.
